HEDD launches the HEDDphone D1 with a thin-ply carbon diaphragm
The German maker moves from its Air Motion Transformer designs to a dynamic open-back, using what it describes as the first thin-ply carbon diaphragm driver, developed with Sweden's Composite Sound.

HEDD has introduced the HEDDphone D1, a German-made dynamic open-back headphone built around a driver using a thin-ply carbon diaphragm, developed with Composite Sound in Sweden. It is a departure for a company known for Air Motion Transformer designs.
Diaphragm material claims are among the hardest announcements to evaluate, because material choice shows up in a measurement only through its effects: breakup behaviour, distortion at level, and how consistently units match. Those need a rig and more than one sample, so the claim stays a claim for now.
