Sennheiser launches the HD 480 PRO at $479
A closed-back studio headphone built on the platform Sennheiser introduced with the open-back HD 490 PRO, aimed at creators and engineers who need isolation.

Sennheiser has launched the HD 480 PRO, a $479 closed-back studio headphone that follows the open-back HD 490 PRO introduced in 2024. It is positioned for creators and engineers rather than the consumer HD 500 and HD 600 lines.
Closed-back studio designs trade the even, uncoloured presentation an open back makes easy for isolation, and the interesting question with every one is how much tonal cost that trade carried. A studio headphone is judged on whether an engineer can learn its response and trust it across rooms, which is a measurement question, not a spec-sheet one.
